Higurashi Kagome (日暮 かごめ) would appear to be your average teenager, except she's actually very far from that. Being the reincarnation of a powerful priestess named Kikyou, Kagome was born with the almighty Shikon no Tama within her, a jewel with limitless power desired by all demons alike.On her fifteenth birthday, Kagome fell through the Bone Eater's well and eventually found herself before the Goshinboku. There, she met InuYasha. The jewel granted her the powers to travel back in time to the Feudal Era of Japan, where she then spent most of her days alongside the hanyou and her companions, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo.

"My name is Kagome! Ka-go-me!"

Kagome, like Kikyou, is often found with a quiver full of bows, as well as an arrow at hand. She is a little shaky in terms of archery, but tries her best regardless. She even manages to hit Naraku, and obviously saves the day with her Sacred Arrow when it counts the most. She can purify the jewel shards, and can protect herself with a burst of strong aura if need be, as seen in the first episode with Mistress Centipede. In the end of the series, she eventually finds her way back to InuYasha, where she spends the rest of her life with him.

"I don't know what exactly I'll be able to do for you, but I'll always be by your side."

As opposed to the other main girls of the series, Kikyou and Sango, Kagome hasn't dealt with tragedy or loss. Despite having lost her father, Kagome was too young to even cope with his death. Though all that may be true, she is still very sympathetic to those dealing with pain and suffering. Kagome is very well known for her kindness and her big heart. She is very loving to all those who she feels deserve it. She will not tolerate anyone who even so appears to be a threat to those she cares about and will try her best to protect them, in spite of lacking in the archery department. Contrary to popular belief, she isn't as whiny or bitchy as the anime had portrayed her to be. Through her, a perverted houshi, a traumatized taijiya, an orphaned kitsune, and a scarred hanyou all came together as one.
